Coaching is a partnership between the coach and the client. A health coach collaborates with the client in a way that supports the client's desired health goals. The coaching process builds awareness and empowers the client to come up with a plan that suits their needs and best facilitates change. The goal of coaching is to encourage personal responsibility, deep thinking, self-discovery and self-efficacy. "Health" encompasses all areas of wellness-- physical activity, nutrition, weight, stress, and life satisfaction.
Why would someone need coaching?
A coach can often help the client get to the core issues, remove the barriers, build upon strengths, and discover inner resources. Through the "outside view," a coach can take a non-judgmental assessment, and empower the client to come up with their own behavior modification plan. Coaching can help the client find the solution, stay on track, be accountable, and get to the finish line.
What is Nutrition Consulting?
In addition to guidance, a consultant will offer advice. There is more of an education aspect to consulting, where the consultant will set the agenda and often supply the solutions. Someone with a certification in Nutrition Counseling, will have knowledge of how diet and lifestyle around food can help supports one's health, and thus determine which foods/nutrients will be best for the type of support needed.
